A series of major earthquakes have hit the central Kumamoto area of Japan causing deaths, injuries, and extensive damage to the area’s residences and infrastructure. The devastation started with a 6.5M earthquake on Thursday, April 14 and was followed by a 7.3M quake on Saturday, April 16 with many aftershocks in the days following.
