CHICAGO – The JCCC Foundation, the charitable arm of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Chicago, has donated over $107,000 in grants to Chicagoland and Illinois educational, arts and community organizations through its twenty third annual grant-giving programs. Funding for the JCCC Foundation grant program is derived entirely through JCCC member contributions and member-supported fundraising events. The JCCC and Japanese business community have, over the years, been warmly welcomed and supported by the Illinois community. The JCCC would like to announce the recent change in the donation percentage of membership dues, effective of January 2013. Every year the JCCC donates a portion of membership dues to the JCCC Foundation, the charitable arm of the JCCC, as tax-deductible contribution. For 2013 the donation percentage is increased from last year’s 8% to 10%. This decision was proposed and deliberated by the Executive Board of Directors in December 2012 and was officially approved at the JCCC Member Annual Meeting on January 13, 2013. On January 13, 2013, the JCCC Annual Meeting and New Year’s Party were held at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center. We are pleased to report that the event was successful, with more than 800 people participating in the festivities. In addition to a delicious lunch and entertainment featuring J-Pop musicians Sunplaza Nakano-kun and Papala Kawai from “Bakufu Slump.” a newscaster and meteorologist Mio Nemoto did a presentation on the 2012 JCCC activities and a fun mini talk show with the musical guests.
