The Chamber strives to build an environment that is conducive to the growth and development of the Japanese community. The JCCC operates through two committees and eight industry councils that do the work of promoting business exchange. The committees and councils organize business-related seminars and conduct surveys to keep Chamber members informed of current economic issues.

The JCCC also hosts programs, activities, and social functions that allow Chamber members to meet and support each other, as well as other Japanese and Japanese Americans. Events include the annual New Year's Party in January and an annual conference known as the JCCC Business Forum in August. The JCCC also presents various cultural events throughout the year.
In addition, the JCCC also provides and supports programs and services for members of the Japanese community in Chicago. For newly arrived members of the Japanese community, the Chamber offers valuable information on living in the United States. The JCCC also provides information and resources through several Japanese language publications.
