Our mission is to provide material handling equipment that fully satisfies the customer, thereby achieving longterm prosperity for our employees and the company. With a proud workforce of over 425 people, supporting another 2500 working at 115 Nissan dealerships, we supply more than 150 models of material handling equipment. Since 1957, we have been dedicated to developing quality products with a strong emphasis on human engineering.
Corporate Philanthropy and Citizenship
Nissan Forklift Corporation (gNFCh) also takes its role as a community leader very seriously. We look to enrich the lives of our local community through direct actions or support of quality organizations. Many of our outreach efforts are generated from ideas and suggestions from NFC employees. Through this collaboration we are able to positively impact the community and support efforts that are important to our workforce. Our philanthropy activities tend to have a local focus, but many have impact beyond. While NFCfs efforts are wide spread, listed below are three of which we are particularly proud.
United Way
This is the only corporate sponsored donation campaign that takes place during the year. NFC commits almost 50% of its donation dollars to this effort and holds a campaign to educate employees to the value added services that United Way helps provide in their communities. The campaign also consists of a gkick offh assembly with the entire company, with speakers from organizations that receive United Way donations. In addition, bake sales, silent auctions and cooking contests are held to raise funds and interest in United Way. Two NFC employees sit on United Way allocation committees to help decide which organizations will receive the much needed money. NFC started its successful partnership with United Way in 1992.
Youth For Understanding International Exchange (YFU)
NFC is proud to partner with the YFU in offering scholarships to Japan. Established in 1951, YFU is one of the worldfs oldest, largest and most respected international educational exchange organizations. YFU has successfully exchanged more than 200,000 students worldwide. The scholarships are made available to dependents of any full-time NFC employee or dealership. NFC and YFU look for students who are flexible, have a spirit of adventure and who enjoy the challenge of adapting to new people in a new culture. Applicants must also meet grade requirements before being considered for this unique life experience.
Challenger Learning Center
The Challenger Learning Center for Science & Technology is a not-for-profit educational organization offering an interactive simulated space science experience for students, families and corporate groups. Each of the 44 centers worldwide are chartered through the Challenger Center for Space Science Education, founded in 1986 by the families of the seven astronauts tragically lost during the Challenger space shuttle mission. Through scheduled team missions, the Center promotes leadership, communications, problem solving and critical thinking skills while supporting our countryfs goals of improving science, math and technology education. NFC was proud to be one of the major inaugural donors to help launch this organization in Woodstock, IL. During 2001, the first year of operation, over 9,000 students participated in activities at the Challenger Learning Center. NFC has also sent employees to participate in team building exercises held by the Center.
Nissan Forklift is proud to support and sponsor many charitable organizations. Whether it is a monetary donation, a donation of capital equipment or a donation of time from our employees, we strive to truly make a difference.
