Volunteer Activities by Individual Members

OMRON Corporate Citizenship Activities (Schaumburg)

OMRON thinks companies should act as responsible corporate citizens in the communities where they operate. This belief constitutes the foundation of integral members of society. OMRON pursues corporate citizenship through business activities and direct contributions to society.

1. Omron Foundation Inc. (OFI)
All across North America, the Omron Foundation supports local community projects through direct donations and matching employee-directed contributions. Since 1989, we have provided charitable resources to organizations benefiting education, people with disabilities, cultural pursuits, the aged and other social concerns such as disaster relief and food aid. These acts of good corporate citizenship reflect Omronfs desire to enrich community life for all.

  1. OFI Funding
    Funding consists of annual contributions representing 0.1% of the sales generated by OMRON Group companies in North America.


  2. OFI Guidelines for recipients
    OFI has the following Guidelines for recipients as follows:
    • Must be an IRS approved charitable organization
    • Must maintain a Non-discrimination policy
    • Contribution use must be clearly stated
    • Must not be political or religious in nature
    • Must resubmit request each year


  3. OFI Target Contributions
    • Education
      The technologies of tomorrow cannot be developed without a good education today. OFI aggressively supports all levels and facets of education including scholarships and awards for teachers and students


    • Culture
      Support of culture and artistic pursuits enriches and uplifts society as a whole. With OMRON's continued support, the arts and other cultural treasures will be available for future generations to enjoy.


    • Disabilities
      A physical limitation should not adversely effect the quality of life. OMRON is taking steps to ensure that challenged people enjoy a high quality of life


    • Elderly
      Just as physical limitations should not affect of a person's life, neither should age. The aged can have a profound effect on any individual and community if they are allowed the chance.


  4. OFI FY03 (FYE3/31/2004) Activities
    In FY03 OFI executed a total of $400,000 in donations to over 100 recipients which included matching funds for Omron group employees' donations. Northern Illinois University, Chicago Symphony, American Heart Association, Direct Relief International, United Way, where among the recipients of Omron Foundationfs FY 03 donations.



2. OMRON Day - OMRON Founder's Day
Beginning with OMRON Founder's Day (May 10) of 1991, Omron has implemented volunteer activities by Omron Group employees throughout the world. Cleanup activities, visits to community institutions, blood donations, and computer training are some of the activities by which Omron expresses appreciation for the support and cooperation received from local communities. These activities are performed during work hours, thus Omron provides opportunities for employees to give of themselves while on the company's time.
