- Enrollment in the After School program is continuously at or near capacity.
- Program staff encourages parental involvement in their children's academic
progress, in addition to parental input in the LISTO program. The program
coordinator prepares a monthly report on each student, carefully evaluating
academic and behavioral/personal accomplishments or problems of the participants.
She then uses these reports for assessing the needs of the children as a group,
as well as in her periodic meetings with parents to review the progress of
each individual child.
- Volunteers from the Association House Community Center staff and the community
provide performance lessons to participants. This kind of volunteer involvement
with the children is an illustration of the supportive and familial atmosphere
that After School Program participants enjoy at the Community Center.
- The After School program offers underprivileged children cultural and educational
field trips.
- After School program participants take part in city-wide art competitions;
last year, one of our Association House children won a prize for the best
work.
