Parents assisting Learning (PAL)

Parents Assisting Learning is a family literacy program for first and second grade students and their families.  The project sponsors four family workshops per year in which parents are instructed in the use of a particular reading strategy.  First and second grade teachers at Virginia Lake provide the workshop instruction.  The parents and children then practice the strategy with a book, which becomes part of their family library.
