The first session of the three-part Learning Lab takes place in the school, and focuses on strengthening a student's understanding of basic energy concepts, focusing on wind energy. Students explore these concepts through hands-on experimentation with traveling exhibit stations and discussion activities. The second session features a visit to the Museum with emphasis on the AirWorks for Kids exhibit, where students record their ideas about wind energy at an interactive Story Station video area. These video segments are brought back to the school for classroom discussion. Session three takes place back at the school and gives students an opportunity to practice what they have learned by building and testing wind-powered objects, windmills, whirligigs and more!
