Onward Neighborhood House request from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Chicago Foundation a Student Development and Achievement grant of $5,000 to integrate technology as a learning tool for 53 disadvantaged children, ages 6-12, attending the agency's After School Day Care Program. The request covers four computers, two printers, and age appropriate software. Through technology Onward will extend continuity of learning to the after school hours applying basic educational principles that support the learning processes, remedy academic weaknesses and broaden the perspectives of young children.

Mission : Onward Neighborhood House is a community-based family resource center dedicated to the positive development of children and youth, while supporting parents and adults in providing a quality home life, thereby promoting the stability of the neighborhood.

History: Initiated in 1928 as a join effort of the Presbytery of Chicago and the United Church of Christ, Onward Neighborhood House was incorporated in 1943 as a non -profit organization serving low income community residents in the southeast area of West Town.
