

Previously the learning of a new language consisted mainly of memorization. That method effected learning, it did not foster acquisition. The fluency students will need to participate in a global world demands an additional step: knowing the target language well enough to make it his or her own. Total Physical Response Storytelling (TPR-S) is an effective strategy that promotes acquisition. The Foreign Language Department Chairs of the two schools in our district propose to provide initial and on-going training for department members of TPR-S.
