JCCCコミュニティ委員会では、Alliance for the Great Lakes（シカゴ市）が主催するミシガン湖岸清掃プロジェクトに参加しボランティア活動を実施いたします。毎年、約15,000人のボランティアがミシガン湖の美観維持と環境保護のため、ビーチ清掃活動に参加しています。JCCCも1994年より2024年まで毎年この活動に参加しており、参加団体の中でも特に多くの参加者を集める団体の一つとして、高い評価をいただいております。昨年は別のボランティア活動を実施いたしましたが、JCCC創立60周年を迎える今年、再び本活動を実施することとなりました。これまでご参加いただいている皆様はもちろん、今年初めてご参加いただく方も大歓迎です。会員・非会員を問わず、多くの皆様のご参加を心よりお待ちしております。

また、Beach Sweep終了後には、近隣にて（57th Street Beachより徒歩約20分）「Osaka Garden Tour」の開催を予定しております。弊所では2016年、創立50周年を記念し、科学産業博物館付近に桜の木を50本植樹いたしました。さらに本年は60周年を迎えるにあたり、3年にわたり合計60本の桜を植樹しております。本ツアーでは、これらの植樹地をご案内するとともに、Obama Presidential Library近辺を通り、Osaka Gardenをご見学いただく予定です。ご興味のある方は、ぜひご参加ください。

～再利用可能な軍手・バケツ・紙ごみ袋など、清掃用具ご持参のご協力をお願いします！～

イベント主催者Alliance for the Great Lakesからのビニールのゴミ袋、ゴム手袋の支給はございません。毎年約18トンのゴミを回収し、そのゴミの90%程がビニール・プラスチック類で占められることから、再利用可能なものを使用するよう奨励されております。ご参加の際はハンドル付の紙袋またはバケツ、軍手、トング等をご持参いただきますようご協力お願いいたします。

The JCCC Community Committee will participate in a volunteer beach cleanup organized by the Alliance for the Great Lakes in Chicago.
Each year, approximately 15,000 volunteers take part in beach cleanup efforts to help preserve the beauty of Lake Michigan and protect the environment. JCCC has proudly participated in this initiative annually from 1994 through 2024 and has been recognized as one of the organizations with the highest number of　participants. Although we conducted a different volunteer activity last year, we are pleased to resume this beach cleanup in celebration of JCCC’s 60th anniversary.
We warmly welcome both returning participants and those joining us for the first time. Participation is open to both members and non-members, and we look forward to welcoming many of you.

After the Beach Sweep, we are also planning to hold an “Osaka Garden Tour.” (approximately a 20-minute walk from 57th Street Beach)
In 2016, to commemorate our 50th anniversary, we planted 50 cherry trees near the Museum of Science and Industry. In addition, to mark our 60th anniversary this year, we have planted a total of 60 cherry trees over a three-year period. During this tour, we will introduce these planting sites, pass by the area around the Obama Presidential Library, and visit Osaka Garden.
We sincerely invite anyone who is interested to join us.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CLEANING TOOLS!!

90% of the litter picked up by Adopt-a-Beach volunteers every year is plastic. With that in mind, the Alliance is working to reduce our plastic use. We encourage you to join us in this effort by considering reusable products for your cleanups, like 5-gallon buckets and gardening gloves. Thank you!!!
